The Jefferson Youth Soccer Club understands that helping our players improve their skills and confidence on the field is our top priority.  More than winning or losing, effective player development that is engaging and fun is critical to fostering life-long passion for sports and the healthy lifestyle this passion promotes.

Coaches are the key to helping our players be the best athletes
and people they can be...

Mandatory Courses for Youth Soccer Coaches

If you would like to coach soccer, the following training courses are mandatory:

Child Abuse Awareness Seminar

HEADSUP Concussion Awareness

Additional Coaching Courses

We have many coaches that have completed additional, voluntary coaching courses. This training is highly recommended and you would be reimbursed by Jefferson Youth Soccer for the cost of these courses.

For more information on some additional courses, please visit the New Jersey Youth Soccer Coaching Education page or the US Soccer Digital Coaching Center.

Best Practices

You should familiarize yourself with the differences between In-Town, Rockaway Valley Soccer League rules (noted in the By-Laws) and FIFA Rules. RVSL and In-Town programs require that teams avoid running up the score. Goal differentials should be kept at 5 or less.  Avoid playing keep away, it embarrasses the opponent and tends to increase the level of frustration.  Have players play with their opposite foot or require X number of passes before they can shoot.
